Hello, my name is Awate (it rhymes with ‘a latte’). I was born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in May 1991 but I am Eritrean and grew up in Camden, London, England. I am an independent artist.
I am most known for my music. I am a rapper, singer, songwriter, producer and engineer. I have received radio play from many radio stations around the world and have performed several hundred times from Ireland to Australia. I am part of the People’s Army hip-hop collective and was on tour with Lowkey for four years as his opening act from 2008-2012. I was also the emergency opening act for Jay Electronica once. My music has garnered praise from people such as Kanye West, Jay-Z, Idris Elba and a few people who come to my shows who actually matter in the grand scheme of things. I am very active politically (I am most probably socialist) and it reflects in my songs, as does the fact that I’ve been rapping since I was 11 and am really good at it as a technical craft in my opinion.
I am also an actor and writer of one proper script, though I’ve also written some shorts that are either funny or interesting. I am also a published author (I was 10 years old at the time) and contribute articles/blogs to a few online/print publications about a variety of subjects (mostly music, politics and football). I do a podcast either alone but mostly with people I find interesting in the fields of journalism, comedy, music, history, politics and science. I started doing stand up comedy in 2012 and am taking my time with it at the moment. I also do rap workshops for schools and schemes for young people.
Thanks for reading this. My previous press release was a bit corporate in third person and not very good. If you wish to contact me for any of the above or anything else, use the contact form on my website or email me at: email@example.com
Also, I would really appreciate it of you could fill out the contact form on my website so I can send you very occasional cool emails with news and exciting content.
